Howdy! I am Darby Johnson and I am a Public Health Major with a Biology Minor from Shiner, Texas, looking to earn my BS then my DDS. I love being involved, pursuing academia, I enjoy the satisfaction of having worked hard to achieve a goal, a good conversation with a new face, and appreciating the world around me.

I see every day and every assignment as an opportunity to get a little better and a little closer to my goals. I see education as a privilege and an amazing opportunity that would be wrong to pass up.

As I said, I am working towards being a dentist and am sure that it is the path for me. I knew I wanted to be in a medical and helpful career. Initially, I saw the profession as a way to give every possible opportunity to my future family, but as I have spent the past 7 years shadowing and earning my RDA, I know it is so much more. I have been accepted to my top dental schools, the future looks bright and I feel confident moving forward. I now know that I want to be a Doctor of Dental Surgery to change the stigma around the profession and give a level of care beyond just physical. So many people are afraid of the dentist, but I want to desolate that notion and hopefully create a more healthy, happy community.
