Roots
The most important part of understanding who I am is understanding where I came from -- Shiner, Texas, a loving family, and a Catholic upbringing and education.

My family has had a long love affair with A&M. Starting with my grandparents: former Head Baseball Coach ('85 to '05), Mark Johnson, and former Texas A&M University Head System Comptroller for all TAMU campuses, Linda Johnson. Then my father and uncle played baseball for A&M and my dad, Ron Johnson, was Athlete of the Year his senior year at A&M! My mother, five cousins, and my sister have also been students of this great university.
I was born in Houston, Texas, but Shiner has been my home since I was six years old. I spent 12 years at Shiner Catholic School playing sports and being involved in everything I could. Summers were spent at the pool or acting in the community theater. Weekends and evenings were spent in gyms, at tracks, or under stadium lights. Sundays were especially dedicated to faith and family time. There are retreats and picnics, dances and polka, but mostly a sense of community and comfort.
I love this tiny, one-stop-light town and want to return after I earn my fancy certificates and have some years of experience under my belt.
